Chandigarh University announced 800 scholarships in various programmes through the all India entrance exam CUSAT 2019 which will take place in April and May at various test centres across India. Under this policy, students will be awarded scholarships up to 100% in more than 109 professional programmes for the academic session 2019-20. Also, there is another scholarship wherein 10% academic scholarship will be given to the wards of university/college professors and school teachers of Telangana state for their contribution towards building a strong future for the nation.
Prof Prabhdeep Singh, Head Media, Chandigarh University launched a nation-wide campaign ‘Lakshya’ to offer free of cost professional career counselling facility for the students. Giving details regarding the facility, Singh said that the career guidance would be available free of cost for the students of Telangana University at their regional office in Somajiguda, Hyderabad.

As a part of this scheme, any matriculation, 10+2 or graduate student from Telangana can walk-in at the university’s regional office for getting professional guidance. They will have to go through a psychometric test which will help them in taking a career decision. Indian universities should focus more on providing employment opportunities for the youth and that requires real-time interface with the industry to get an understanding of the expectations and then upgrade the academic syllabus according to the changing scenario.

Singh also mentioned that the scenario in the corporate world has led to a demand for the academic institutes to offer new gen programmes. These will enable the youth to expand their horizons by improving their employability prospects. Singh also mentioned that more than 250 Telangana students are presently studying in different professional programmes in the Chandigarh University. The University recognizes that Chandigarh has emerged as a popular choice for higher education from Telangana. Out of 50 students from the 2018 batch, 43 of them have got campus placements in topmost companies. Some of the recruiters are Cognizant, MRF Tyres etc.
