About CUSAT CAT 2018

Cochin University of Science and Technology Common Admission Test, commonly known as CUSAT CAT, is organised every year by Cochin University of Science and Technology for admission to various undergraduate and postgraduate courses offered by the institutes affiliated to the University. Admission will be offered in courses such as Engineering, Sciences, Humanities, Law, Management, Commerce and Computer applications. The university level common admission test (CAT) will be organised in online (computer based) mode in the last week of April 2018.

Note: Candidates for MBA (Full-time) / MBA (Part-time), MBA (International Business), MBA (Travel & Tourism) will be short-listed on the basis of their scores in C-MAT (AICTE)/K- MAT/CAT (IIM)/ and also for M.Sc Industrial Fisheries will be short-listed on the basis of their CAT score and will be required to participate in Group Discussion and Interview.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Eligibility Criteria

Cochin University has set the minimum eligibility criteria for CUSAT CAT 2018 that candidates must fulfill in order to become eligible to apply for the examination.

  • Candidates from Kerala Scheduled Caste and Kerala Scheduled Tribe are eligible to apply if they have minimum passing marks.
  • Candidates applying for M.Tech programmes are eligible for 5% relaxation if they have a valid GATE score.

Eligibility Criteria for CUSAT CAT for UG Courses

  • Candidates need to pass 10+2 examination from a recognised board or university with the required subjects.
  • Candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks in their qualifying examination.
  • Candidates with any backlog in 10+2 are not eligible to apply.
  • Only graduates can apply for three-year LLB programme .
  • Candidate should be an employee of Central Government and should be staying within a radius of 30 km from CUSAT, Thrikkakara campus.

Eligibility Criteria for CUSAT CAT for PG Programmes

  • Candidates should have Bachelor’s Degree in the required field.
  • The minimum marks required in the qualifying exam is at least 60%.
  • The minimum marks required may differ for each course.

CUSAT CAT Exam Pattern 2018

CUSAT CAT 2018 Exam Pattern will be set by Cochin University of Science & Technology for various programmes including B.Tech, B.Com, MA, MCA, M.Sc, LLB and Doctorate Degree.

  • The questions will be multiple choice and the exam syllabus will be different for each exam.
  • The examination will contain around 150 questions for all major programmes except engineering (B.Tech).
  • Candidates for B.Tech programme will have to score a minimum of 10 marks in each subject to qualify for the ranking list.
  • There will be 250 questions in the Engineering (B.Tech) Examination and 200 questions will be for lateral entrance candidates.
  • The examination will be held for 3 hours.
  • Each question will be awarded 3 marks for the correct answer and for every wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted.
  • There will be no deduction for unanswered questions.
  • The examination paper can be divided into different parts.
  • The medium of the question paper is English language.
  • There will be a set of questions to be asked about various topics mentioned in each part of the syllabus.
  • Questions will be prepared according to the syllabus and equal weightage will be given to all the topics.
  • MBA (Full-time) / MBA (Part-time), MBA (International Business), MBA (Travel & Tourism) are prepared basis the combined score of KMAT /CMAT / MAT / CAT as well as performance in Group Discussion and Interview. For M. Sc Industrial Fisheries, candidates will be short-listed on the basis of their CAT score.

Candidates who are appearing for CUSAT CAT 2018 should follow the instructions listed below:

  • Candidates should reach the exam venue at least one hour before the commencement of the entrance exam.

  • No candidate will be allowed to take the entrance exam without the CUSAT CAT 2018 Admit Card.

CUSAT CAT 2018 Counselling Process

The CUSAT CAT 2018 Counselling Process for B.Tech and various other courses has already begun. On this page, candidates can get information on CUSAT CAT 2018 counselling schedule, counselling procedure, seat allotment, admission criteria, etc.

Detailed CUSAT CAT Counselling Process 2018

The CUSAT CAT 2018 counselling process involves the following steps:

Registration & Option Entry:

  • It is mandatory for qualified candidates to register themselves in order to participate in the counselling of CUSAT CAT 2018, Candidates can register using the username and password sent on their email IDs.
  • Once registered, the next step for candidates is to fill the choice of colleges and courses in order of their preference. At the time of choice filling, candidates should try and provide the maximum number of options.
  • It must be noted that no changes can be done once the options are locked and submitted.
  • In cases where candidates are not able to submit the form before the due date, the selected options will be automatically confirmed by the admission authorities.

Seat Allotment:

  • Once the choice filling process is over, the next important step for candidates is to take the printout of allotted seat.
  • The seat allotment is done based on candidates' ranks, filled preferences and the number of seats available in particular courses.
  • Also, candidates are allotted seats when the process of document verification is done and the counselling fee is paid.
  • If seats still remain vacant after the subsequent rounds of counselling, a spot round of counselling will be conducted separately by the University.
  • Before reporting at the allotted college, candidates must download the counselling call letter and carry the same along with other necessary documents.

Reporting to allotted college:

  • Candidates must report at the counselling venue as per the specified date and time for the purpose of document verification. 
  • Once the process of document verification is done, the next step for candidates is to pay the admission fee in order to confirm their seats.
  • It is a must for candidates to confirm their seats by paying the fee as per the schedule.
  • Those who fail to show up for the counselling process as per the scheule, will not be considered for further counselling rounds.

CUSAT CAT admit card 2018 has been issued by Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). The admit cards released on 17th April, 2018 in online mode for the registered candidates. How to Apply for CUSAT CAT 2018

Creation of Login ID

  • Go to the official website of CUSAT i.e. www.cusat.nic.in.
  • Click on the link 'New Candidate Registration'.
  • Enter your basic details such as your name, date of birth and age exactly as given in the qualifying certificate.
  • After that, enter your valid e-mail ID and an active mobile phone number of yours or parents.
  • Then, you must choose the correct options out of the 2 options given on the login page.

You will receive an OTP Password on your registered email ID and mobile number. You can log in and change your password as per your wish.

Filling of Online Application Form

  • After the registration process is completed, you will have to log in using your user ID and the newly created Password.
  • Provide login credentials such as Father's Name, Mother's Name, Occupation of Father and Mother, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, Address, State, Annual Income of Parents, etc.
  • Click on 'NEXT' tab to move to the next page.
  • Select Special Reservation Category/Categories (if applicable) and Eligibility Qualification for the course/courses you wish to apply for.
  • Select exam centre from the Drop Down List. You may also choose a second choice test centre.

  • If the application submitted by you is not approved within the stipulated time, you should take necessary action as per the application status page.

Note:

  • Those applying on the basis of GATE or any other Management Aptitude Test must email their scores to helpdesk@cusat.nic.in before the online submission of application form.
  • Those who are applying for different programmes like M.Sc. and/or MBA and/or M.Tech may submit the application one by one by logging in each time with the same username and password. A single application fee is sufficient for such cases.
