The Tier - I Examination of Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Examination will be carried out from January 7 to February 5, 2017 . The admit cards for this examination is already released by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The examination is being carried out to fill up the following vacant posts:
- Postal Assistant or Sorting Assistant - 3,281 posts
- LDC or Lower Divisional Clerk - 1,321 posts
- DEO - 506 posts
- Court Clerk - 26 posts

Most of the candidates are looking for examination pattern of Tier - II Examination which is also called as Descriptive Examination. Tier - I is an online examination or Computer Based Test. Tier - II Examination will take place on April 29, 2017.
SSC CHSL 2016 Tier - II Exam Pattern:
- It is an offline examination or pen and paper based examination
- The duration of SSC CHSL Tier - II examination is one hour and the candidates will also be given 20 minutes as the compensatory time
- The examination is being conducted to assess the writing skills of the candidates
- The candidates must write an essay on a given topic in 200-250 words as well as application or letter writing in 150-200 words
- The candidates need to score 33 percent of marks to qualify in Tier - II examination
- The candidates have the choice to answer the questions either in Hindi or English
- The merit list will be prepared as per the score of the candidates in Tier - II examination
