The trend of outsourcing the responsibility of training students in various skills has been prevalent in Tamil Nadu for the past six to eight months.

Most of the colleges in Tamil Nadu are looking for private agencies to train students in various skills and make them industry-fit. These agencies are acting as the middleman between industry and academia. However, most of the colleges are taking initiatives to train students from the first year itself to improve the chances of getting hired by various companies.

The trend of outsourcing the responsibility of training students in various skills has been prevalent in the state for the past six to eight months. One of the officials of Smart Training Resources revealed that they have tied up with 300 colleges across the state and 600 institutions worldwide. He further added that most of the colleges are not showing keen interest to compete in placements as the demand for employment opportunities in IT sector have declined.

He mentioned that colleges have opted to start an early placement training for the students to meet the demands and requirements of the industry. Most of the colleges want first and second-year students to have a long-term training in Communication Skills so that they will pick up the chances for the employability to be high.

Tier-I colleges have been training the students from the past three to four years, and Tier-II & Tier-III colleges have started to approach various private agencies to train students. The main reason for these colleges to outsource the responsibility is to focus on the syllabus and core academics.
