Karnataka Government will allow Covid-19 positive candidates to appear for KCET 2020 exam. The entrance test is scheduled to be conducted on July 30 & 31, 2020.
Just days before the conduct of the KCET exam for the 2020 session, the exam conducting officials and the Karnataka state officials came up with a decision to permit those candidates also to take the exam who have tested positive for the ungodly Coronavirus. The Karnataka state government released a “Standard Operation Procedures” on 20th of July in which it allowed those candidates who are asymptomatic COVID-19 positive to appear in the Karnataka CET exam scheduled to be conducted on 30th and 31st July 2020. According to the official reports, more than 1.94 lakh candidates have registered for KCET 2020 exam.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka C N Ashwathnarayan has assured that the KCET exam will be conducted strictly per the guidelines that the Health Department has released. Asymptomatic COVID-19 positive candidates will be provided with exclusive exam centres and rooms as per the orders dispatched to all the Deputy Commissioners.
The onus will also be on the candidates to ensure the exam centres does not become a centre of community transmission by informing the officials about their COVID status prematurely for the necessary arrangements to be made. Candidates have to produce a medical certificate stating their fitness to sit for this year’s KCET exam. A “Risk Consent” must also be provided on behalf of the candidates. 108 ambulances will be deployed on the days of the exam to carry these asymptomatic COVID-19 positive students to and from their respective examination centres.

Students from other states and countries will also appear in this year’s KCET Examination. Ashwathnarayan, who also heads the Higher Education Department, has made it clear that these outside candidates will be exempted from the home quarantine rules and will not be allowed to stay put in the state for more than 96 hours.

Amidst a lot of hue and cry to cancel the KCET exam for the 2020 session, the state government’s decision to go ahead with the conducting of the exam has drawn a lot of criticism from the student and parents faction.
