A high profile delegation from Vietnam National University (VNU) visited Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in India to discuss modalities for undertaking joint research in the areas of mutual interest. President of VNU, Dr. Nguyen Kim Son led the high-level delegation. An interactive session took place between the President of VNU and Director General of CSIR, Dr. Girish Sahni.
In a meeting that was attended by the officials of CSIR and VNU delegation, discussions took place on different modes of partnership that could be considered for operationalisation. Initially, CSIR and VNU will collaborate through the student-exchange programme at doctorate level (Ph.D. level). The student exchange programme will enable the Ph.D. scholars of VNU and CSIR Ph.D. fellows to exchange ideas and undertake joint research in the mutual areas of interest.

The Ministry of Science and Technology announced that VNU and CSIR will constitute a Joint Working Group to undertake and execute research projects of mutual interest in the areas of pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, material science and general technology applications. The partnership could be in the form of training programmes, joint research projects or through technology transfer arrangements. More details about the research projects will be announced soon.

Such international collaborations in the field of science and technology will bring out new innovations that are beneficial for the society. Similarly, it is a great opportunity for the Indian researchers to meet and interact with renowned researchers across the globe. It is also a platform to understand the research initiatives of other countries.
