Daly College (DC) Indore plans to expand its Daly College Business School (DCBS), instead of promoting it as a University. Earlier the college planned to start its private university under the name DC University. But finally, they dropped the plan after looking into the pros and cons of starting the university. While interacting with media, the Principal of the college said that they wanted to expand their higher education wing, and so they chose to start a separate private university of their own. However, they had to drop the idea due to undisclosed reasons. He also added that as per the state rules (MP), no private university could run foreign courses. As their main aim was to collaborate with foreign universities, they would have had to shut down DCBS, which has been functioning successfully since 1998.

He also said that Association of Indian Universities (AIU) has come with new sets of rules that allow only All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to have foreign collaborations in other courses. This reason has prompted the decision makers to think in favour of expanding DCBS.
He also said that they could have foreign collaborations for other important courses without opening a separate university. Now they might expand DCBS. This is being perceived as a positive step towards DCBS’s progress.

The Principal also said that DCBS has already started looking out for foreign collaborations. Right now they are in touch with a Singapore-based university. But he refused to elaborate further on this subject. The announcement of DC University was made in December 2014.
