The University of Delhi is observing ‘Vigilance Awareness Week’ from October 29 to November 03, 2018. As per the guidelines issued by Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), DU will organise a slew of activities as a part of Vigilance Awareness Week, and the theme for the same is ‘Eradicate Corruption – Build a New India’. The administration of DU has directed all the departments, faculties and affiliated colleges to observe Vigilance Awareness Week, and take up some activities associated with the theme.
Delhi University has also urged the stakeholders to send a report on the activities undertaken as a part of Vigilance Awareness Week along with photographs (not mandatory) to the Vigilance Cell of Delhi University. It will be the responsibility of Vigilance Cell of varsity to transmit a compiled report to the Central Vigilance Commission.

The circular issued by CVC stated that the Vigilance Awareness Week is conducted to give emphasis to the Government of India’s vision to create New India by 2022. The commission has always been trying to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life. Observing Vigilance Awareness Week encourages all the stakeholders to participate in the prevention of corruption, fight against corruption, and create public awareness on the existence of corruption, and threats associated with corruption in the society, explained by CVC.
In order to educate society on the consequences of corruption, CVC directs higher learning institutes like the University of Delhi to observe Vigilance Awareness Week. CVC is trying to enhance transparency and accountability in the government system, and such events will play a vital role in achieving the target.
Ever year, Vigilance Awareness Week commences with the Integrity Pledge by public servants working in various government organisations or departments. The public servants on a massive scale will take the pledge on October 29, 2018 (11:00 AM).

Delhi University is set to organise workshops, outreach activities, sensitisation programmes, and competitions as a part of Vigilance Awareness Week.
