The ‘Dolphin man of India’ Dr. Rakesh Kumar Sinha has been felicitated upon reaching back to his home state, by the teachers of the Patna University after getting the Padma Shri. Dr. Sinha was felicitated by the Patna University Teacher’s Association - PUTA. Dr. Sinha, speaking on the occasion said that he has discussed ‘conservation of Gangetic dolphins’ with the authorities, also that they were in the start hesitant in sanctioning the funds for the research work on the Dolphins .
"But seeing the dedication in the research & sincerity, the authorities supported me in the venture started by me," Dr. R.K Sinha, the head of the department of the Patna University - Zoology department informed.
The Dolphin man also revealed that a few foreign scientists had also visited laboratory used by him for his works at the university & they were really surprised to see the work going on with very minimal infrastructure & gaining recognition on the international level.
Dr. R.K Sinha also said that for a genuine worker, the constraints in the facilities, infrastructure – the physical constraints would hardly matter. It would not deter his/ her conviction towards his/ her work.
Dr. Sinha had been awarded the prestigious “Order of the Golden Ark” award from the Netherlands in the year 1999.
However, his efforts were recognized in India only in the year 2016, with the reward of Padma Shri, earlier in this month, i.e April 2016.
