On Monday, 25th February 2019, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence or the DRI signed an agreement with the Gujarat Forensic Science University. The MoU was signed between the Director General of GFSU and DRI, Dr. JM Vyas and DP Dash respectively. Among others present were GFSU Registrar CD Jadeja and the Principal ADG of DRI of Ahmedabad Zonal Unit Ashish Varma. This agreement was made to strengthen digital and cyber forensic operations by using the facilities available in the university.
As per the agreement, DRI and GFSU will exchange information on educational and research programs in the field. They, together, also aim to organize conferences, workshops as well as seminars on topics of mutual interest to both the participating institutions. They will also work towards strengthening each other's knowledge in the field of cyber and digital forensics. Additionally, GFSU also agreed to help DRI in developing the state-of-art infrastructural facilities at different centers of DRI. GFSU will also design courses particularly meant for the officials of DRI.

DRI stated that this agreement will help in stopping commercial frauds and also aid in anti-smuggling investigations as a result of which better and well-trained manpower will be able to analyse data with the help of digital and cyber forensics.

GFSU has already signed 97 agreements in the past, with international organizations like Red Cross, BorderPol and also CBI, ED, and DRDO.
