Forensic Team to be Hired by Delhi University for 2018 Admission Process
  • Forensic science experts are to hired by Delhi University to check on fake documents submitted at the time of admission.
  • The examining of documents will be active for admission session of 2018.

Delhi University is planning to hire experts of forensic science for admission session of 2018. The experts will be hired to check certificates and marksheets of the students taking admission in Delhi University. This examining of certificates and marksheet will enable the university to spot fake documents and prosecute the liable candidates for submitting fake documents. The decision was taken to curb rackets supplying forged documents in past few years.

Delhi University official said that the colleges of Delhi University will be asked to involve the forensic team by the admission committee of DU. The team will help colleges to identify fake documents submitted to secure seat in the college. Many DU colleges have already published notifications to employ forensic team for verification of the documents.

Infrared light and ultraviolet light will be used by the forensic team expert for checking hidden writing and fluorescent marking made on the documents. Magnifying lens will be used to search micro-lettering along with stereo microscope to check the quality and thickness of the paper.

Team of forensic experts were first engaged by Ramjas College in the year 2013. The engagement was involved after scam of false marksheet outraged in the year 2012. Kalindi College, Sri Venkateswara and Dyal Singh College also hired experts of the forensic department for admission in session 2016-17. Administration of Shivaji College has also planned to hire experts in this year's acedemic session.

Forensic scientist Mohammad Iqbal, said that, many colleges of Delhi University decided to involve experts of forensic department as was underlined in the guideline issued by the university. He also added that, the procedure to check forgery involves two steps of verification. First is to check the physical parameters of the paper including bar codes, micro-lettering, fluorescent thread, fluorescent marks, paper quality, etc. The experts further goes the next step for deeper verification of the document. Online tracking system and verification of roll number are also used for checking documents.
