DU Directs All its Colleges to Mark Students Attendance Online

The University of Delhi has directed all the colleges affiliated to it to mark students attendance in the new online portal/system. As per the new online attendance system, teachers are required to mark the attendance in the class itself or immediately after the class.

According to the notification released by the Delhi University, the new admission portal will also have the academic record of the students and the student lifecycle management. The new system on the dashboard will be known as AMS - Attendance Management System.

The main agenda of the DU online management system is to keep the track of student attendance and to streamline the attendance process in the DU colleges. However, the online attendance portal faced a lot of criticism from the faculty, academic council and the member of the executive view. According to them, varsity took this decision in haste without statutory sanction regarding the same.

As per the Delhi University attendance regulation, it is compulsory for students to maintain 66% attendance. Students who are unable to fulfil the criteria are detained and are unable to appear in the university exams.
