DU Virtual Learning Platform

Delhi University (DU) has started a virtual learning environment (VLE), a web portal i.e. vle.du.ac.in, to offer the necessary digital support to the students and teachers. On the portal, DU has claimed that it has conducted 29,000 e-quizzes, 1500 e-lessons, 50 e-lectures and 20 e-labs. It also has a section known as the Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL) for training teachers in the information and communication tools (ICT).

DU is offering UG courses, foundation courses and national mission on education courses through this portal. It also includes science, commerce, mathematics, humanities and social-science courses along with short-term courses such as conflict resolution, theatre performance, film-studies. The courses are available in English and Hindi.

DU said that it is an innovative and unique way to showcase a variety of tools and opportunities which will be available for the teachers and students on a daily basis to help them cope with the needs of the learning and teaching community.

VLE is for the students, ILLL is for the advanced learners who would like to get trained in the new-age skills. This portal is likely to help the heads and teachers of various institutes to learn more about ICT, which is like a digital way of conducting conferences and workshops that were held earlier in the physical space and via video conferences.

Presently, DU is shut due to COVID-19 but the learning-teaching process is going on virtually. The UGC has directed the varsities to upload their academic content digitally. 25 percent of the syllabus will be published online while the remaining will be taught face to face once the institutes re-open.
