Ahmedabad-based Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) has come up to promote social entrepreneurship education in India with foreign collaboration. For that, the institute has announced a tie-up with the University of East London (UEL).

EDII also plans to commence a two-year distance education programme in Social Entrepreneurship. The programme aims to impart education, knowledge, and skills to set up social enterprises.
The director of the institute, Sunil Shukla said that Social Entrepreneurship Education in India programme managed by EDII in association with the University of East London (UEL) wants to infuse enthusiasm and competency for social entrepreneurship education.
Andre Mostert, a professor at the University of East London said that UEL and EDII Ahmedabad have formed a partnership to develop an internationally accredited qualifications framework to support social enterprise across India.
Established in 1983, EDII Ahmadabad is an autonomous and not-for-profit institute. Spreading over twenty-three acres of land, the institute has helped set up twelve state-level exclusive entrepreneurship development centres and institutes in the country.
Over the years the institute has been working for the development of the entrepreneurship in India. Due to the expertise in entrepreneurship, UGC has assigned EDII the task of developing curriculum on entrepreneurship. Even Gujarat Textbook Board also assigned the task of developing textbooks on entrepreneurship for class 11th & 12th to the institute.
