Addressing the students at the convocation ceremony of Ambedkar University on December 9, 2016, spiritual leader Dalai Lama stressed that the current educational reforms must play a significant role in eliminating ‘fear and violence’ from the society. Teachers must play a major role in teaching with greater sensitivity and work towards achieving tolerance, peace and harmony. There is a need to include various methods in teaching which inculcate social and moral values among the students, he said.

He further emphasised that the ancient knowledge and philosophy of India have the capacity to inculcate moral and ethical values among the students for which technology is needed. He cautioned the students not to be deterred by ‘advertisers’ and instead work towards achieving equality in the society.
Lt. Governer Najeeb Jung stated that apart from Gandhiji, India is also a land of Dalai Lama.
On this occasion, a total number of 530 students were awarded UG, PG, M.Phil and Ph.D. degrees. Among the degree holders, 66 percent were girls, which in itself is a great achievement.

The fifth convocation ceremony of Ambedkar University was held in a grand way last week on 9th December 2016. The program began at 10:30 AM, and the convocation ceremony was presided by Najeeb Jung, Chancellor of Ambedkar University Delhi.
At an another event that took place in the city, Dalai Lama spoke on “Meaning of Life and Secular Ethics”. He indicated that it is time to revive our ancient knowledge which is still relevant in the modern world. He concluded that Indians should give more emphasis on their traditional knowledge.
