Mohammad Ahmed Ali, the son of an electrician proved that determination and hard work always pay off in the end. He always believed that talent is the only virtue that cannot be discriminated against financial status, caste or religion. Ahmed Ali attracted the attention of nation by grabbing a pay package of $100,000 (Rs. 70 Lakh) in an American firm. He is the only diploma holder from Jamia Millia Islamia to receive such a huge salary package.
The success story of Ahmed Ali seems strange to many. He scored good marks in JMI school board examinations. Like many other students, he aspired to join the B.Tech course at JMI but failed to clear JMI’s B.Tech entrance exam for three consecutive years. Even though he wanted to pursue architecture course at NIT Jharkhand, his family’s financial condition did not allow him to do so. Finally, he took admission in Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course at JMI in 2015.
While pursuing the Diploma course, young Ali developed a theory to charge electric vehicles. Giving details about his innovation, Ahmed Ali explained that the infrastructure used for charging electric vehicles is a challenge that India is facing today. Therefore, he developed a theory that will minimize the cost of charging vehicles. Professor Waqar Alam at JMI understood the potential of Ahmed Ali and guided him, he added.
Ahmed Ali with the help of his professor sent his expression of interest to the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE). Director of CIE was very much impressed by the theory proposed by Ahmed Ali. CIE Director promoted the project at various levels and uploaded the same on the official website of JMI.
Ahmed Ali's idea appealed an American-based automobile company, i.e., Frisson Motor Werks. The company contacted Ali through the university and offered him a lucrative job as a Battery Management System Engineer.
