National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur is one of the leading institutes in the world known for providing academic excellence. NIT Jamshedpur was earlier known as the Regional Institute of Technology and was set up in 1960 as a joint venture of government of India and the government of Bihar. Earlier, the institute used to offer undergraduate courses in just four branches of engineering. The institute has grown since then and it has 12 departments including science, engineering, and humanities. NIT Jamshedpur has 200 faculty, around 150 administrative and supporting staff, and roughly 4000 students. It is situated on the outskirts of Jamshedpur on 341.3 acres of wooded land. It forms a picturesque location with low hills on one side and large forest tracks on the other, which make the campus an ideal place for learning and research.
The institute has all necessary facilities such as the library, the main building, computer center, and hostels, a guest house, student’s gymkhana, post office, a branch of SBI, two ATMs, central store and a dispensary. The hostels and departments are connected with high-speed wireless LAN. NIT Jamshedpur also has sports facilities for various sports. The courses offered at NIT Jamshedpur have been totally restructured as per the needs of the industries and society. There is a lot of development on every front. The institute has also managed to offer a good number of placement offers for the students, with some of the top software companies and industrial houses, which come to the NIT Jamshedpur campus and recruit students in large numbers.
It is located in the western part of the city of Jamshedpur and is surrounded by some of the medium-scale and giant industries such as Tata Steel, Telco, Indian Steel, Tinplate Company, Tata Timken, etc.

Overall i'm satisfied with my college.I have chosen this course as I'm very interested in software and I really love programming. Our course helps students to get placed soon as it have lot of companies offering jobs for our course.Many technical events are conducted. We have sports club in our college which conducts sports meet every year and we have cricket ground, football ground, basketball court many badminton courts. Tech fest and Cultural fests are also conducted yearly. Campus surroundings are good and we have greenery in the campus.
