
Government of Kerala is exploring ways and means to tap its potential by launching an exclusive ‘College of Food Technology’ at Thumboormuzhi near Chalakudy which will be the first B-Tech regular college for food technology in South India.
The college is coming up under the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (KVASU) and offering 4-year B.Tech programme in Food Technology with an intake capacity of 50 students at its Thumboormuzhi campus.
The objective is to cater to the emerging requirements in the sector, especially qualified manpower. With the future of food processing industry looking up in the country which is ranked 5th in terms of production, consumption and export. The annual growth of the food industry in the country was 20 per cent and it generated more employment, said a high rank state government official.
