The Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune has begun with one of its kind six-month writing course for television and web series. This has been done looking at the trending online streaming culture and incoming of more and more of young filmmakers, who are taking the lead and coming up with web series, short films, etc.
The motive behind the course is to make skilled and knowledgable filmmakers and writers for the small screen. Vinod Ranganath, a noted TV writer has been appointed as the director of this course. FTII has selected 13 students which include seven women from seven states for the course.
Vinod Ranganath has been teaching in the Film and Television Institute of India from past many years and has imparted training in TV scriptwriting. FTII faculty believes that requirements and skills needed to write a web series vary strongly from the approach of writing for the film industry. The course has been therefore designed after strong and in-depth research of the web series industry. The course must cover all the aspects of the web series industry. Web series are in popular demand and that is the reason why the institute is designing new and variant courses to meet the modern needs of the TV industry which keeps changing time and again.
