IIT- Bombay Tech-Projects Trains 50L students, 10 L Teachers

IIT Bombay’s Tech-Projects - T10KT and Spoken Tutorial has trained up to 50 Lakh students and 10 Lakh teachers by now in various IT Specialisations to enhance the employment potential of students and teaching methodology of teachers.

IIT Bombay and Ministry of Human Resource Development took the joint initiative of training teachers and students, earlier this year through their tech projects funded by the National Mission on Education through ICT, Government of India. The concern of respected institutions was to facilitate the students in acquiring better employment opportunities and for teachers to learn the advanced methods of pedagogy.

What is Spoken Tutorial?

Spoken Tutorial Tech Project focuses on students and promotes self-leaning by audio or video tutorials. Any student can access these audio-video tutorials via the website of spoken tutorials - https://spoken-tutorial.org/. Some characteristics of videos and audios tutorials present on the spoken tutorial are as follows:

  • Short videos/audios (10-15 minutes)
  • Easily available for everyone
  • Dubbed in 22 languages
  • Easy to download videos/audios under CC-BY-SA license

What is T10KT Project?

Teach 10,100 Teachers is a venture of IIT Bombay that involves the development of teaching methods in the remote areas of India. To fulfill the motive of T10KT, approx to 600 Remote Centres have been installed where teachers can learn the updated teaching methodologies. Some characteristics of T10KT Project is as follows:

  • Live lectures by experts
  • Audio-video conferences
  • Use of A-VIEW

The series of Linux training is going to start today, August 23, 2019, under which 3,000 teachers are expected to be trained. Apart from Indian students, 15 teachers from Myanmar would also be joining the workshop and expert lectures.

This venture of IIT Bombay has successfully trained many students & teachers and continues to do the same at a larger scale which would further uplift the education facilities of not just urban but rural areas as well.
