GITAM signed an MoU with Germany-based University of Applied Sciences Neubrandenburg at Visakhapatnam on Saturday, August 3, 2019. This memorandum of understanding was signed to promote mutual cooperation in teaching and research projects. The MoU was signed at the GITAM campus.
The MoU documents were exchanged between GITAM professor, KVGD Balaji and Dr Ing Andreas Wehrenpfenning, professor of Applied Sciences Neubrandenburg. These documents were exchanged in the presence of GITAM VC, K Sivarama Krishna, joint secretary of GITAM, M Bharadwaj, and GITAM Pro-VC, K Sivaprasad.
Both the organisations agreed to cooperate for the internationalisation of higher education in research and education by conducting conferences, joint research projects, cultural programs, and also the exchange of students and faculty. GITAM VC, K Sivaramakrishna said that the engineering students were showing a lot of interest in continuing their studies in Germany. GITAM university also offered courses on the German language.
He also added that the teaching will improve with these international academic relations and will also uplift the research standards. GITAM VC, K Sivaramakrishna said that GITAM is trying to establish strong linkages with institutions who are internationally reputed.

GITAM University has three campuses. It offers many professional courses and also has an excellent placement record. It was earlier known as GITAM College and was affiliated to Andhra University. It was set up in 1980 and got the status of deemed university in 2007. It was the first private engineering institute in Andhra Pradesh to get the university status.
