Today i.e. 5th August’ 16, during the question hour in Lok Sabha, J. P Nadda, Health Minister announced that they are going to set up 5 AIIMS level medical institutions in India.
They have already received invitation from 17 states to set the institution and the government has selected following five states:
- Nagpur (Maharashtra)
- Kalyani (West Bengal)
- Bhatinda (Punjab)
- Gorakhpur (Uttar Pradesh)
- Mangalagiri (Andhra Pradesh)
Other than the above-mentioned places government plans to set up medical institutes in the following states:
- Jammu & Kashmir
- Tamil Nadu
- Himachal Pradesh
The government has decided to set up these institutes in a phased manner i.e. one by one.
During the question hour, the state minister of Jharkhand was asked about the progress of AIIMS in Jharkhand to which he answered that it is working okay. Jharkhand government has identified the location for new AIIMS at Devipur in Deoghar.
Health Minister, Nadda has ensured that the DPR i.e. Detailed Project Report will be released soon along with the details of Shivpur Medical College in Madhya Pradesh.
