The Government of Haryana has announced that they will be setting up colleges in a radius of 10 km within the state. The administration has announced that the new colleges will initially be mapped on the basis of distance.
As the plan will progress, the colleges will be developed according to the number of students residing in the areas close by. The State Government is focusing on starting colleges near the densely populated areas.
In the recent meeting conducted by the Higher Education Department of the state, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar led the discussion and came up with the idea of starting new and more accessible colleges.

The Chief Minister also added that the officers of the state must prioritise establishing colleges in the rural areas of the state for the benefit of the rural communities. Khattar also reviewed the district-wise mapping of colleges and added that there are plenty of colleges in towns at district levels.
It was also observed that the number of students enrolled in colleges located near Faridabad and Gurgaon is much high than the colleges located in other regions of the state.

The minister also added that the education department should explore the possibility of starting colleges in towns where the number of students enrolled in old institutions is high. The minister added that this will help in developing education-friendly cities. Khattar also added that the government’s aim is to provide quality higher education.
