Mr. Manohar Lal Khattar, Chief Minister of Haryana announced that the state government would set up a university in Gurugram. For this purpose, the Cabinet has approved a Bill and the same will be introduced in the upcoming session of Vidhan Sabha. The main campus of the varsity will come up in a village named Kankarola that is located at a distance of 15 km from Gurugram.
The state level university will play an important role in imparting education, research and training to enrolled students in multi-disciplinary fields. The Cabinet also decided to transfer 373 kanals and 19 marlas of land that belong to Kankarola Gram Panchayat for the establishment of state level university in Gurugram. However, the land will be provided on a lease basis.

Mr. Manohar Lal believes that the new university will open new horizons, vistas and opportunities of higher education for the students in the region as well as the entire state.
The aim of the government is to double the number of educational institutions in the state by the year 2020. The government wants more students to be enrolled in higher educational institutes. On the other hand, the government is aiming to achieve 30 percent of Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER).

Recently, the government of Haryana also decided to set up new polytechnics in the state to improve the employability rate. The government assured 100 percent placements to the students who enroll in these institutes. Another initiative that was taken up by the government includes the training of 840 girls in the field of computer education. Therefore, it is apt to mention that the government is laying more emphasis on building the higher education system and subsequently developing skills among the students of the state.
