Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science, Chennai hosted the prestigious Zonal Jury of COA National Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis and Documentation from 16-18 September 2019.
Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS) hosted the Zonal Jury of COA National Awards for Excellence in Architectural Thesis and Documentation of Architectural Heritage 2019 at the School of Architecture. The award ceremony was conducted with the collaboration of COA-TRC from 16th September to 18th September 2019.
In a press release, Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science said that the exhibition was held consecutively for 3 days and it was a platform to interact with students, architects and faculty for discussion on the current trends in the field of Architecture.
Students pursuing their B.Arch degrees from all the colleges in India recognised by COA (Council of Architecture) participated in the event. This is an annual event to identify the best thesis projects of India in the field of Architecture in each academic year challenging a student’s creativity and imaginative ideas.
The awards program exhibited the best design works from across the country. It was a public event where stalwarts from the field of architecture in India chose the winners, the general public attended the Open Jury.
The award will encourage the architecture students by bringing glory, pride and enthusiasm for the students and equally for architecture colleges. It will simultaneously act as a public awareness event for promoting Architecture as a subject and career option.

The awards are conducted at two levels which are Zonal and National. The recent award ceremony was held to focus towards the Zonal level hosted by the School of Architecture at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science. The event was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr. Ranee Vedamuthu a Member COA and the Guest of Honour Ar. G. Jayalakshmi followed by the opening of entries in the exhibition received from various institutes.
The 10 shortlisted entries in Zonal Jury were promoted for presentation on 18th September 2019. The two of the selected best projects out of 10 at the zonal level were awarded a cash prize amounting to Rs.10,000 each.
