With the number of crimes that women have to face each day, especially the younger girls, the Ministry of Human Resource Development had introduced an initiative by the name of Samagra Shiksha. With the help of the initiative, the ministry has decided to provide the female students between classes 6 to 12 with lessons in self-defence.
As per sources, the HRD Ministry has decided to provide the schools with ₹3,000, in a span of three months for all the schools that are government-run, where the female students will be taught life skills along with classes in Self-Defence. Sources also stated that self-defence training will also be provided in the different Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas for the girls studying in classes from 6th to 12th along with girls who come from socially and economically challenged backgrounds.

The Ministry has requested the stated to avail the different schemes such as Nirbhaya Fund that has been provided by the Ministry of Women and Child Development among other state schemes, which can be used to provide self-defence classes to the girls studying in schools.

Samagra Shiksha, in laymen’s terms, is an initiative that has been brought in by the Government, especially by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, to help in the process of improving the overall education system of India.
