The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has submitted a proposal to the Bombay High Court regarding the remaining papers of ICSE (class 10) exams. According to the proposals, students can choose not to appear in the exams and the results can be declared on the basis of internal or pre-board marks.
The proposal was submitted by CISCE in response to a petition filed by a parent seeking directions to cancel the ICSE exam due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the proposal, the CISCE has also said that for the subjects whose examinations have already taken place, in such cases results in those subjects will be announced on the basis of students' scores in those examinations.
Also, Delhi University has asked board to direct share the class 12 result link for document verification. The requests were made in order to facilitate online verification of documents for 2020 DU Admissions.
The council has decided to conduct the exam from July 2 to July 12 for the pending exams, and approximately 2.8 lakh students are expected to appear in the same. The next hearing, in regard to this matter, will take place on June 17.
During the first hearing, the Council mentioned about the safety measures and other security norms such as sanitisation of examination halls and classrooms and to ensure social distancing during the exams. It also mentioned about planned entry and exit from the examination venue to avoid overcrowding and made it made the masks mandatory.
While CISCE had decided to make optional its 10th and 12th board exams.Whereas, CBSE is going ahead with its pending class 10 and 12 board exams from 1st July to 15th July 2020. Since the eligibility for entrance exams like JEE and NEET is basis class 12 CBSE and class 12 ICSE results as a result JEE Main exam has been postponed to 18th to 23rd July. Similarly, the NEET UG exam date has been rescheduled to 26th July. According to the reports, HRD Minsitry has given CBSE a week's time to take final decision regarding the pending class 10 and class 12 board exams.
