IGNOU offers distance learning programme in Watershed Management
Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has invited application for one year “Diploma in Watershed Management” (DWM) Programme for the July-2016 session.
This programme was developed with financial support of Department of Land Resources, Ministry of Rural Development,Government of India. The Diploma Programme in Watershed Management aims at developing competent human resource in the field of Watershed Development/Management.
It intends to impart basic knowledge and skills for water harvesting, conservation and utilisation, soil erosion and its management, integrated farming systems including crop husbandry, animal husbandry, agroforestry, fish farming, funding, monitoring, evaluation and capacity building of watershed programmes besides extension and communication skills for long-term socio-economic development of the society.
It will provide the basic understanding of various activities undertaken during the development of watershed programmes.
The programme also intends to address the workforce requirement of the watershed management and focus on upgrading the knowledge and skills of existing personnel in the watershed development.
Duration: The minimum duration of the diploma programme is one year. However, the candidate has the flexibility of completing the programme within four years’ time.
The eligibility requirement for this Diploma programme is 10+2 pass-outs or Bachelor Preparatory Programme (BPP) from IGNOU.
Fee: The programme fee is Rs. 10,000/-
Medium Structure: The programme is offered in English and Hindi medium.
All the interested candidates from rural areas and below poverty line urban candidates can avail 50% fee concession on submission of valid proof.

Prospectus can be obtained from Regional Centres in person in Rs.200/-, or by post by sending a demand draft of Rs.250/- in favour of IGNOU, New Delhi, to Registrar (Student Registration Division), Indira Gandhi National Open University, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068.
Candidates fulfilling eligibility criteria in the respective disciplines may download the soft copy of the application form from the IGNOU website www.ignou.ac.in.
It can be downloaded from the university website www.ignou.ac.in.
Last date for receipt of applications is last week of July, 2016 with a late fee.
