IGNOU Withdraws Re-Admission Scheme for Management and Several Other Courses

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has approved the proposal to withdraw its re-admission scheme for several different courses. The decision was taken by the Academic Council in its 74th meeting held on 21st July 2020.

The same was communicated by the university through a notification released on its official website on 6^th October 2020. The admission scheme of several courses available at IGNOU will be affected by this decision including the IGNOU Scheme of Admission to Management Courses through Form-3. IGNOU has also removed the re-admission provision from its July 2020 Prospectus as well.

What is IGNOU Re-Admission Scheme?

The IGNOU Re-Admission scheme is a process under which students who have failed to complete their course in the maximum time duration specified by IGNOU are allowed to take re-admission and complete their course. The examination process and everything else remains the same for such students.

Why has IGNOU Withdrawn Re-Admission Scheme for Several Courses?

The IGNOU Admissions Council made this decision on recommendations made by a committee constituted to review the provision for Re-Admission in the courses offered by the university.

IGNOU has specified that the re-admission scheme will not be available for the old students of IGNOU as well. However, IGNOU will allow old students to seek re-admission if they satisfy the eligibility conditions to facilitate them to complete their courses by June 2021 TEE (Term-End Exams).

Candidates whose maximum programme duration ends on June 2021 TEE or after will not be allowed to take admission in these courses.

IGNOU Re-Admission Timeline for Old Students

IGNOU has specified the following course-wise timeline for old students seeking re-admission. Candidates whose course have ended or are about to end as by the specified Term-Ends will be allowed extension by the terms specified in the tables below.
