IGNOU Law Admission

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) provides vivid certified courses in the law domain. IGNOU also offers PG and doctoral degrees in multiple streams. Candidates who wish to pursue law from IGNOU can enrol in the certificate and diploma courses that the university offers but they will not be able to get a degree of LLB from IGNOU. Three year-long or five-year-long LLB course through a distance mode is not considered as a genuine option and the BCI does not recognise the law programme if is done through the medium of distance education. The Law programmes offered in IGNOU consists of DIPP, CAHT, CCP, PGDIPR, PGDCJ, PGCC. 

IGNOU - School of Law was established in 2005. Its main objective is to impart legal learning through distance education and open education. IGNOU introduced an online learning programme through which PG certificates are offered online. For online admission, candidates need to go to the official website of the university. Exams of the IGNOU law are also taken online but in well-monitored centres

Application Process for IGNOU Law Admission 2023

A candidate can apply in both online and offline modes for IGNOU law admission 2023. Given below are both the methods through which a candidate can fill the IGNOU 2023 application form.

Online Procedure:

The students can register themselves for IGNOU law admission 2023 by following an online procedure. The step by step process is mentioned below.

  • The student must visit the official website of IGNOU.

  • Just below the title bar comes a drop-down menu named ‘Register Online'.

  • The student must click on the ‘Fresh Registration’ option which will take the student to the admission subpage.

  • The student must select the ‘Register Yourself’ option and fill up the credentials like Name, Date of Birth, Gender, E-mail id, and Mobile number.

  • The candidate then has to make a unique user ID and set a password.

  • After the account creation, the student needs to click on log in and enter the user name and password just created.

  • The candidate will next fill up the information and details like personal details, programme details, qualifications, and course details.

  • The candidates will have to upload the documents required for applying for IGNOU Law Admission.

  • After submitting the form, students will be redirected to the payment gateway where they will have to submit the application fees.

Offline Procedure:

The offline method of the IGNOU application process has been explained in detail below.

  • The candidate has to visit any nearest regional centres of IGNOU.

  • He/she must issue a Demand Draft (DD) in favour of IGNOU for the payment of application fees.

  • The candidate will have to acquire the application form and submit it to the regional centre.

  • Within 45 business days, an application of confirmation will come via post, message, or E-mail.

Important Documents Required for IGNOU Law Admission 2023

A list of the important documents required for IGNOU law admissions is provided below.

  • Scanned Copy of Passport Sized Photo (less than 100 KB)

  • Scanned Copy of Signature (less than 100 KB)

  • Scanned Copy of Previous Academic Records (less than 200 KB)

  • Scanned Copy of Age Proof Document, for eg. Class 10th passing certificate/ Birth Certificate (less than 200 KB)

  • Scanned Copy of Experience Certificate (less than 200 KB)

Students are shortlisted to pursue the desired law course at IGNOU based on merit in the qualifying exam. Candidates with a higher score have better chances of getting admission to college. To get admission in a PhD law programme,i.e. Doctor of Philosophy in Law or PHDLE, IGNOU conducts an entrance exam at the national level. Applicants who qualify for the law exam are selected for admission at the college.
