Partha Chakraborty of the electronics departments is appointed as the first full-time director at Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIESTB), Shibpur. The new director of the IIEST will succeed the Vice-Chancellor, Ajay Ray.

According to Ray, the nine-year-long tenure with the university has taken a toll on his health and the campus requires someone more active to meet the demands of the faculty and campus.
