The B.Tech curriculum of Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Delhi received a new minor programme in entrepreneurship through which the B.Tech students of IIIT-D can study business. The students wish to pursue this programme will receive an additional certificate along with the B.Tech degree. The entrepreneurship programme will be available from the first semester onwards. Students, irrespective of the semester they are studying, can apply for the programme.
The programme will have 24 credits - 16 core credits, 04 credits for an apprenticeship and 04 credits for B.Tech Thesis Project beginning from the summer session of 2020. The programme will be taught over a duration of two years. In a written statement from the Institute, the course will impart entrepreneurial vision, business acumen and entrepreneurship competency to the students which will prepare them to become job creators.

In addition to teaching business ethics, raising fund, basics of legal and financial planning and sustainability for both the environment and business, the programme will teach students other important things like building proposal ability, planning effective solutions etc.

According to the IIIT Delhi Director Ranjan Bose, an entrepreneurial mindset is more than just starting a business venture. Life-skill development like shortlisting unique opportunities and to bring people from different domains at the same level for the ease of selling their ideas. He also added that the certificate programme will not only broaden the mindset of the students but will equip them with the ability to convert disruptive ideas into realization. It will develop their entrepreneurial competency and will also sharpen their business acumen, said Ranjan Bose.
