IIIT Hyderabad has extended its deadline for undergraduate admissions to 26 March 2018. The institute also introduced several new changes to its undergraduate admission process. The reason behind the change in the admission process is to make sure that students with a right aptitude for research are selected for the dual degree programmes. It has also opened a special channel for the CBSE students that come under UDAAN scheme.
The new admission process will require dual degree candidates to appear in the UGEE - Undergraduate Engineering Entrance Examination along with a special channel of admission for CBSE-UDAAN scheme students. These factors will provide an opportunity to the deserving students who have a keen interest in the research work.

This scheme is open for students who have passed class 12 or equivalent examination and have also qualified for the UDAAN scheme or are in the integrated six-year programme i.e. 12th + B.Tech course after 10th grade.
Whereas the admission to the 4-year B.Tech programmes will be on the basis of JEE Mains only. However, they have an option of lateral entry for CSD and ECD dual degree.
