Union HRD Minister, Mr Prakash Javadekar informed that an innovation cell has been established at the AICTE TO brainstorm new ideas and promote innovation.The innovation cell was launched at the AICTE headquarters

The HRD Ministry has set up an innovation cell at the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) on 21st November 2018. The innovation cell will brainstorm new ideas and will promote innovation in all higher education institutions (HEIs) across the country. The innovation cell was launched at the AICTE headquarters by Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar through a video conference.

According to him, this will be a major step in institutionalising innovation and developing a scientific temperament in the country. The main purpose of innovation cell is to aspire young minds towards innovation and nurture them with new ideas.

Expressing his happiness over the improvement of India’s ranking in Global Innovation Index, Javadekar stated that setting up of innovation cell in HRD Ministry will have long-term benefits, as global innovation index is mostly related to education. On the other hand, the innovation cell will enable the HRD Ministry to give more emphasis to innovation and research efforts, he highlighted.

The Smart India Hackathon launched by HRD Ministry is one of the major reasons for the improvement of India’s performance in Global Innovation Index.

Javadekar further pointed that the government’s efforts to promote innovation for improving the economic growth of the country yielded positive results. Recently, the central government sanctioned six new research parks in premier institutes across the country. At present, there are over 120 Technology Business Incubators spread across various institutes, he explained.

With these consistent efforts to promote innovation, India might secure a top spot in the rankings in the coming years.
