IIM Lucknow Targets to Improve its HRD Ranking in Next Year

After securing the fourth rank in the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) list released by the HRD Ministry, Indian Institute of Management Lucknow is now targeting for the third position in the next year rankings.

Director, Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, Ajit Prasad said on April 6 that he and his team are aiming for third place now and they would analyse the break-up of scores of the IIMs which had secured the first three ranks and then work on how they could improve their positions. The IIML scored the third position with a score of 86.13. He added that for the next academic year, they would be reducing the number of students in each class and increasing the number of sections to accommodate the total strength.

“We will study the break-up scores of the other IIMs which have scored better than us such as the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, the Indian Institute of Management, Kolkata, and the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, and then decide where we need to work on to improve our score. Efforts will also be made to reach the number one rank but that will take some time,” said the director.

In the break-up, the IIM-Lucknow has scored following:

  • 7 in the Teaching, Learning and Resources (TLR)
  • 7 in RPC (Research Professional Practice and Collaborative Performance
  • 4 in GO (Graduation Outcome)
  • 3 in OI (Outreach and Inclusivity)
  • 2 in PR (Perception).

According to the director Dr. Ajit Prasad, they were very happy with the result. “We are happy because it is coming from the Ministry which is known for its transparency,” he said. On being told that they would also have to increase the strength of teachers at the institute, the director admitted that they had been carrying out their recruitment.

The director informed us that the new academic session would begin on June 17 and this new batch they will have a couple of sessions on case methodology and they would also be holding a meeting with teachers on April 9.
