IIM Sambalpur Marks a Decade of Excellence in Presence of Union Minister of Education

IIM Sambalpur marked its 10th anniversary with new campus facilities. Students and master weavers were felicitated during the celebration.

IIM Sambalpur Marks a Decade of Excellence: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Sambalpur reached a remarkable milestone as it celebrated ten years of educational excellence, innovation and development. The grand program organized on the 11th Foundation Day of the institute was attended as the Honorable Union Education Minister, Government of India, Chief Guest.

The occasion was marked by the inauguration of three major campus facilities - BS program hostel, colorbati open theater, and cafe hub complex. This addition is a symbol of commitment to create a vibrant ecosystem of IIM Sambalpur that integrates educational hardness, cultural engagement, and social interaction, enhancing the overall student experience. Top achievers from MBA 2024–26 batch were facilitated during the ceremony.

IIM Sambalpur: A decade of rapid growth and innovation

In his welcome address, IIM Sambalpur Director Prof. Mahadeo Jiswal underlined the remarkable visit of the institute in the last decade. He emphasized its transformation from a budding institution to a nationally distinguished management school among 21 IIMs.

Major achievements include:

Construction of a world-class campus in record time by saving 35 crores from the approved budget.
A significant leap in the NIRF rankings, climbing from 50th to 34th in 2025 - one of the highest jumps of the year.
Becoming the first institution globally to implement AI-enabled classrooms and teaching modules transforms faculty roles into active learning.
Outstanding gender diversity, with 76% female students in the current second-year MBA batch, has been maintained consistently since 2019.
Progress to "triple crown" international recognition (AACSB, BGA/Amba, and EFMD/Equis).
Effective mentorship of 80 master weavers for their online product display at the international digital platforms.

Minister Pradhan Praises IIM Sambalpur’s Achievements

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated the leadership and the students of this Institute for creating a world-class academic institution. “Good institutions are not boring; they are making case studies, one of which is the IIM Sambalpur,” he said, appreciating its new initiatives.

The Minister distributed Rs. 1 lakh each to the identified students and congratulated master weavers with certificates recognizing their entrepreneurial achievement. He suggested that the institute prepare a case study of Sambalpur, showcasing its cultural and historical value.

The celebration not only represented a proud moment for IIM Sambalpur but also kick-started its second decade of growth and ambitions to be one among the global B-School audiences. With a sharp focus on Innovation, Inclusivity & Impact, IIMK will be an aspiration for management education not just in India but also of considerable global relevance.
