The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shillong will organise the third edition of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Lecture Series on 27th July 2018 on the occasion of third death anniversary of the former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
The chief guest for the event is Padma Bhushan Bikash Sinha, a renowned physicist. He will address the audience with a lecture on The Beauty & Aesthetics in Science.
IIM Shillong initiated the lecture series in the year 2016 as an initiative of paying a tribute to his contribution. Many renowned personalities such as Padma Vibhushan G Madhavan Nair, Director General, Life Sciences, Manas K Mandal have delivered the lectures in the past.

Apart from this, students of IIM Shillong started Nurturing Mind in the year 2015. The main aim of this initiative was to encourage creativity and learning among the students belonging to an underprivileged section of the society in Shillong.
IIM Shillong has also established Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre for Policy Research and Analysis . The first meeting of the centre will be held on 27th July at the IIM Shillong campus itself. The centre will help in policy formation for the Northeast in the six sectors such as BPO, handloom, tourism, handicraft, horticulture and logistics.

The A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Centre has also collaborated with North Eastern Council and Department of North Eastern Region.
