IIT Bombay Pays Tribute to Uri Martyrs with a Candle March
Under the aegis of students and faculty members, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay organised a candle march and prayer meet to pay their tribute to the martyred soldiers in the Uri attack at the premises of its campus on 26th September.
Several students paid their reverence to the sacrifice made by the soldiers in Uri. While paying homage to the soldiers, one of the teachers said that terrorists use technology for destructive purposes and their acts can be countered if the scientists and the research fellows use their expertise.
Both the students and faculty condemned the Uri attack and termed it as an act of cowardice. One of the students said that it is a grave loss for the nation. The memory of the soldiers will remain etched in the hearts and minds of every Indian.
All the students and teachers prayed for the departed souls. In their condolence message, they empathised with the bereaved families. Mayank Kumar, a Ph.D. research fellow and organizer of the event appealed to the nation to remain united and work in tandem.
