The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Goa will start offering B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing from the session 2018-19. Although the institute is only over a year old, it is planning to expand the list of courses.
Currently, IIT Goa offers only three programmes. From 2018, the institute will start its first batch of B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing with an initial intake of 20 students. Check the current list of courses and seats offered by IIT Goa.

Director of IIT Goa, Prof Barada Kant Mishra, said that the institute is also planning to start M.Tech and Ph.D. programmes from the next session. However, these programmes will depend on the availability of space at the institute that is currently operating from the campus of Goa Engineering College (GEC).

Mishra further added that engineering science is emerging as one of the most important fields, and therefore IIT Goa might start offering such courses at M.Tech level. If these courses attract takers, the institute will also start offering the specialisation at B.Tech level.
Mishra also said that a meeting with has been scheduled with the former director of IIT Kanpur and IIT Kharagpur to discuss further plans and seek consultations. The institute does not want to restrict itself to the three branches that it currently offers.

Mishra also said that new faculty will also be hired for IIT Goa to deliver lectures for the new courses that will be started from the next session.
