IIT Hyderabad’s CIE (Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship) has started the application process for its EIR (Entrepreneur-In-Residence) programme. EIR is supported by NIDHI-EIR Scheme of Department of Science and Technology (DST).
EIR comes under NIDHI (National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations), which is an umbrella programme for encouraging new ideas and innovations. NIDHI-EIR Scheme of DST helps entrepreneurs maximize the level of research output from IIT-H’s labs, which can lead to deep teach startups with commercial or social applications.

The EIR who would be selected will get a stipend up to Rs.30, 000 per month for a year and in addition to this, the EIR will also get to interact with mentors and investors. EIR is open to accepting applications from full-time founders focused on deep tech ideas. The deadline to apply for the application is January 10. EIR programme lead YV Prakash said they see this EIR fellowship as an excellent opportunity for entrepreneurs to utilize the two decades of research of IIT Hyderabad for the creation of high-growth business in the tech space.

CIE is a DST approved incubator which has been operational since 2009 and so far it has lent support to about 160 startups. It has also seed-funded 19 startups, out of which 80 percent are cash positive. CIE at IIT-H is also looking at improving the programmes and startup engagements which are focused on building a deep tech startup. New working spaces are also being introduced along with other things such as seed funding programmes, mentoring opportunities, technology transfer facilitation and structured workshops taking place.
