A School of Innovation will be set up in India Institute of Technology- Hyderabad on the lines of Tokyo University's Innovation School. IIT-H will work as the nodal body and lead the new school. Other leading institutes from across the nation will be roped into the new school to make this idea a reality.
Professor U.B. Desai, Director of IIT-H disclosed the intent of the school to students addressing a three-day workshop on the proposed i-school. The workshop was held at the premises of the institute on Sunday 12th March 2017. In his speech, the Director said that the innovators have to think ahead of others and they must be ready to take risks, in every possible way.

i-School was established in 2009 as an educational project by the Centre for Knowledge Structuring of Tokyo University. It aimed at fostering innovative ideas. From the last five years, the institute has been conducting workshops at IIT-H, where students from both IIT Hyderabad and Tokyo University joined in. Professor Hideyuki Horii, Executive Director, i-School of Tokyo University has been conducting the workshop.
Professor Horri, while addressing the students said that innovative workshops are a medium of processing information by a group of people where ideas are put into reality through three types of creativity - combination, exploration and transformation. All innovators shall have the mindset for it, with adequate motivation to master those skills.

Horii also described how creative destruction has transformed the ways students think. In his speech, he also stressed on the need for the human centred innovation.
