You can raise objections against the IIT JAM answer key (once its released) if you notice some discrepancies. The IIT JAM 2026 objection window is expected to open in the last week of February, after the release of the provisional answer key. The release of the answer key along with the master question papers is still awaited.
How the Challenge Process Works
- The provisional answer key is published first.
- Candidates are given a limited time window (usually a few days) to raise objections.
- Objections have to be raised online through the JOAPS portal.
- A fixed fee has to be paid per question.
- You need to give proper justification or supporting documents.
No objections will be accepted without valid proof. After considering all the objections, the final answer key is published. No further objections are accepted after the publication of the final answer key.
What is the next step after the IIT JAM 2026 results are announced?
After the announcement of the IIT JAM 2026 results, the admission process formally commences. Passing the exam does not necessarily mean that the candidate will be admitted – they have to follow the centralized admission process, which is carried out through the JAM Online Admission System. In this process, they have to choose their desired IITs and courses, pay the admission processing fee, and upload their documents.
The seat allocation process is carried out in stages. After the allocation of a seat, the candidate has the option to Accept & Freeze, Accept & Upgrade, or Reject & Quit. Candidates who choose to accept the seat have to pay the seat confirmation fee within a stipulated time period to confirm their admission. Finally, the candidates have to report to the allocated institute.
