The result link was activated around 3:30 PM. The topper's name has been released and shared below. Based on the cutoff trends from the past few years, IIT JAM 2026 cutoffs are expected to show a slight overall increase across most subjects. Subjects like Economics and Chemistry are likely to show an upward trend and see the highest cutoffs again, while Mathematics and Biotechnology are likely to experience gradual increases.

If the login page shows "Service Unavailable" or takes forever to load, then the candidates should stop refreshing. Instead, the candidates should check their IIT JAM result 2026 in a "Private/Incognito" window. Or the candidates can change their network (switch from Wi-Fi to Mobile Data) to bypass cache issues.

The "Dual Degree" Advantage
Based on the past years' trends, many students avoid M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degrees, since this is a 5 to 7-year-long course.
- At institutes like IIT Indore or IIT Bhubaneswar, the candidates get an "Exit" option with an M.Sc degree after 2 years, if they meet a certain CGPA.
- The closing ranks for the Dual programs are usually 200 to 400 ranks higher than the pure M.Sc programs.

Importance of Seat Matrix Matters for Choice Filling
- IITs with more seats (such as IIT Delhi or Bombay) might have slightly higher closing ranks compared to smaller departments.
- Do not just look at "M.Sc. Physics." Instead, search for "M.Sc.-Ph.D. Dual Degrees" or "M.Sc. in Applied Geophysics" (IIT Bombay/Dhanbad) as they have different seat counts and lower cutoffs.

Important Instructions for Admission to NITs
To take admission to NITs using the IIT JAM score, the candidates should separately register on the CCMN website. Hence, qualifying for the IIT JAM exam is not the only criterion. The admission process to NITs will likely start in May.

Research-Focused Institutes (Direct/Separate Application)
Apart from the IITs, some other institutes accept the IIT JAM score, which have been listed in the following section:
- IISc Bangalore, which offers Integrated Ph.D. programs. It is extremely competitive.
- Bhopal, Pune, Tirupati, and Kolkata IISERs accept IIT JAM scores for M.Sc and Integrated Ph.D. programs.
- JNCASR Bangalore accepts IIT JAM scores for admission to MS Research and Integrated Ph.D.
- IIPE Visakhapatnam accepts the JAM score

Critical "Hidden" Requirements
- Some programs, such as M.Sc. Statistics at IIT Kanpur or certain Geology courses require Mathematics in Class 12, even if it was not a major in the degree of the candidates.
- OBC-NCL or EWS certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2025. Older certificates will be rejected during the document verification phase in April/May 2026.

IIT JAM Counselling 2026 Eligibility Criteria
- Candidates who will get 55% aggregate marks (50% aggregate marks for the SC/ST/PwD candidates) will be eligible to participate in the IIT JAM 2026 counselling process.
- Apart from this, there will be some subject-specific requirements for admission to IITs.
- No upper age limit is there.
- For certain programs (like Earth Sciences or Geology), candidates should submit a Physical Fitness Certificate.
