IIT Kanpur Ties up With TiE UP

IIT, Kanpur in association with The Indus Entrepreneurs UP (TiE UP) and Syndicate Bank Entrepreneurship Research and Training Center, has launched the 5th edition of their flagship Worldwide Entrepreneurial Talent Nurturing Initiative 'TiE Young Entrepreneurs (TYE)' Programme 2016.

A total of 60 students of class X to class XII belonging to twelve ICSE/CBSE schools were selected for this year's TYE programme. All the selected students along with their parents, school principals and coordinating teachers were present at the function. Students were given TYE programme handbooks containing details of the whole programme.

The welcome address followed was given by an introduction to the TYE programme by its convener Arun Bajpai.

Prof BV Phani, Dean, Resources and Alumni, IIT, Kanpur spoke about the importance of this programme for the school students.

Students of Swaraj India Public School, Methodist High School, Jaipuria School, Sheilling House, St. Aloysius' School, Virendra Swarup Education Centre, Kidwai Nagar and Panki, Mercy Memorial school, St. Mary's Convent and Delhi Public School, Azad Nagar and Kalyanpur are part of this year's TYE programme.

“TYE is an integrated 5-month programme to be held in nine classroom sessions on different aspects of entrepreneurship. The programme will be held on Sundays at IIT, Kanpur in the months of September, October and November by professors from National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), IIT, Kanpur and IIM, Lucknow. This will be followed by mentoring in the month of December by successful entrepreneurs and then a business plan Competition will be held in the month of January, 2016 where 12 student groups comprising of 5 students each, will present business plans made by them during the course of this TYE programme,” said Arun Bajpai.

The best three winning teams would be given prizes and the top team would present their `Business Plan' in the TYE global competition to be held in USA, with student teams of various TiE chapters of the world, he added further.

TiE (UP) presented Samsung computer tablets to all the students of the winning team, gift vouchers worth Rs.5000 to the first runner up and Rs 2500 to the second runne up team members in last year.
