- The overall placement percentage of the premier institute stood at 70%.
IIT Madras (Indian Institute of Technology) has witnessed a surge in campus placements for Post Graduate students and research scholars during the academic session 2017-18. The campus recruitment process for the academic session 2017-18 has concluded and 36% ofPh.D. scholars were able to secure jobs in various reputed companies. Compared to the last two years, there has been an increase in the placement percentage.
On the other hand, 71% of the Post Graduate (PG) students who registered for the campus recruitment process were successful in securing a job in different companies. The placement percentage of IIT Madras PG students increased during the academic session 2017-18. Last year (2016-17), the overall placement percentage of PG students was 63%.

In all, 832 students including UG, PG and Ph.D. secured jobs in campus recruitment process during the academic session 2017-18. The overall placement percentage of the premier institute for the 2017-18 session stood at 70. There has also been an increase in the overall placement percentage this year. Continuing the trend, core engineering, research and development emerged as major recruiters.

Last year, the overall placement percentage of IIT Madras was 66%. A total number of 817 students secured jobs in various reputed companies. Close to 256 companies took part in the placements and offered 968 jobs. There were also 19 international offers.
