IIT Mandi launches a new program in B.Tech in Physics which focuses on both the fundamental science and the traditional fields of engineering. The programme is a joint collaboration of SBS, SCEE and SE at IIT Mandi.
IIT Mandi launches a bachelors program in Physics to help the student to build a solid formation in the respective field of Engineering to help them build a strong foundation. The IIT Mandi B. Tech course in Physics program is a joint effort of SBS (School of Basic Sciences), SCEE (School of Computing and Electrical Engineering) & SE (School of Engineering).
The curriculum of the course will help students to enhance their knowledge in pure as well as applied Physics. After pursuing the respective course students can apply for jobs in various sectors such as Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology, Nano-Electronics, and Photonics. Talking about the program uniqueness, the course coordinator of SBS, IIT Mandi, Dr. Pradeep Kumar said that the 21st century belongs to the interdisciplinary areas & Engineering in Physics will serve as the catalyst for fostering a breakthrough between fundamental science and the traditional fields of engineering.

The program will cover all the fundamental areas such as Quantum Mechanics, Condensed Matter Physics including some basic courses such as Mathematics and Engineering. Courses from other fields, such as humanities and social sciences, will also be offered as options for the students.
The programme will bridge the gap between pure science and traditional engineering disciplines which is the need of the hour. One of the main reason to start this course is that major scientific and technological changes take place in a multidisciplinary environment. Therefore, it is important to combine both scientific and technological aspects in the learning.
