The first round of NEET-PG 2017 medical counselling and the second round of NEET-PG 2017 dental counselling have commenced in Madhya Pradesh on May 19, 2017. The Directorate of Medical Education has been re-conducting the counselling after the High Court of Jabalpur squashed the process in the first week of May. However, students opposed the decision taken by Directorate of Medical Education. The notice of HC was challenged in Supreme Court, and the final decision is pending.
Some of the aspirants objected the process and demanded that the candidates who secured PG admission elsewhere should be debarred from the process. According to the normal process, if a candidate takes admission and forges his seat, he/she is subjected to the fortification of a bond of Rs. 10 lakh. Later, the candidates will be debarred.

According to sources, the candidates who secured a seat through All India Quota are considering their chances for a better seat in Madhya Pradesh. The DME cancelled around 315 admissions after the regular counselling for PG seats in the state. The state government took this step after in-service doctors challenged the policy of state government for limiting the benefit of Postgraduate admissions.
Sources also indicated that there are only 89 blocks that comprise of tribal areas qualified for additional points for the admission to PG diploma courses. With an objective to obtain a specialist degree, the in-service doctors served in rural or remote areas of the state. The in-service will get 10 marks every year, and by the end of the third year, they get 30 marks.

Now, DME has begun the process after the second round all India counselling. However, it has permitted all the candidates to appear for the counselling. The deadline to complete the admission process for PG medical and dental courses is May 31, 2017.
