Jammu and Kashmir to Get 40 New Colleges

The State Administrative Council (SAC) of Jammu and Kashmir is soon going to establish 40 new colleges in the state for the benefit of the youth and help them achieve their educational aspirations. SAC will appoint a committee which will work on the administrative work etc.

Jammu and Kashmir to Get 40 New Colleges

The state administrative council (SAC) has decided to establish forty new colleges across Jammu and Kashmir in a phased manner at a meeting which was chaired by the Governor of the state, Mr. Satya Pal Malik. The list of these 40 colleges also includes the names of the 26 colleges that were already sanctioned by the government. As there is a need to provide educational opportunities to people who are currently deprived of it, SAC has decided to make a separate committee that will handle the phase-wise sanction the colleges, an official spokesman said after the meeting.

The committee will examine the basic necessities of the colleges like the feasibility of the colleges’ locations, faculty and student ratio, financial requirement etc, The Higher Education Department is also going to seek approval for operationalization of the sanctioned and the new colleges, the official added.

The SAC has also endorsed the proposal for opening a degree college in Drass and two administrative staff colleges in Jammu & Srinagar. Increasing the number of colleges is essential so that the youth can benefit from the same and pursue their desired stream.
