JEE Main 2023 is rightly so popularised as one of the toughest engineering undergraduate entrance examinations and the preparation for it takes a lot of time and effort. Even so, there are many candidates who remain unable to score well in the exam. It is not because they input fewer efforts, it is because of following an improper strategy. Even if you cannot score well in your mock tests now, a proper strategy, combined with equal efforts, is sure to make you score 99+ percentile in your examination.

JEE Main 2023: Strategy to Score 99 Percentile
Some of the most useful tips, tricks, and strategies that can be implemented in put in the required effort are stated below:
1. Calculate the time left
Considering you are preparing for JEE Main 2023 April attempt, you have at least 100 days left for preparation. If you are studying daily for 10 to 12 hours, that is 1000 to 1200 hours to cover your syllabus. Thus, as per your studying time and the number of days, personalize your study hours.
2. Shortlist Syllabus
If at this point, you begin studying all chapters in all subjects, it is impossible to cover the syllabus in an effective manner. Hence, the idea is to pick out the selected chapters which hold the highest weightage such that at least (expected score 180/3 =) 60 marks are covered per subject. Furthermore, do not take a topic that is dependent on another. For example, definite integration cannot be solved without indefinite integration. Therefore, definite integration cannot be picked as a topic with more weightage if you plan to leave out indefinite integration.
List out such chapters for each subject. This list is likely to comprise 12 to 15 chapters per subject. Now, say, if you give 300 hours per subject, it is 300/15 = 20 hours per chapter, which is enough time to prepare.
3. Shortlist Topics
To qualify JEE Main 2023, even if you cover the shortlisted chapters at a fast pace, it will prove to be a waste of time. On the contrary, if you study these chapters in depth, you may not be able to cover enough chapters to score well. Therefore, prepare only in-depth for the important topics in a chapter. It is almost always that the questions are asked from identified important topics only. You shall go through the rest of the chapter quickly in order to avoid leaving them out completely like the chapters.
4. Make short notes
It is extremely important that you make notes or highlight the matter that you read. When in the revision phase, there is not enough time to go through long notes. Therefore, you have to make your notes ready because revision is the most important aspect of preparation.
5. Focus on both theory and MCQs
As per your focus durations and sitting limits, schedule a time in which you will do theory and the MCQs on the same topic in another slot. But is necessary to do theory and MCQs both daily. This way, you will have enough practice in solving MCQs in the examination.
6. Drop difficult questions, add chapters
The majority of JEE Main 2023 paper will be of a moderate to easy difficulty level, with some difficult questions. Say, if these difficult questions come from your shortlisted topics and you remain unable to solve them, it will cause you to lose marks. So, you can leave tier-III questions and perfect tier-I and tier-II level questions so that you can solve any of these in the examination. In order to cover such difficult questions, prepare 1 to 2 extra topics from each subject as discussed above. It is also important that you focus on NAT questions since these questions are of an easier difficulty level although they may seem harder because of the unavailability of options.
