JEE Main Exam Analysis Shift 2 23 January 2025: Students' Reviews

Find below Shift 2 of Day 2 exam analysis through the initial candidate's feedback who have appeared for the online test here.

  • Modern Physics had 2 questions, one was from the formula E=EV0. 1 question from Nucleus (Binding Energy topic). Current Electricity had 3 questions (question on diode and simple formula based questions), Ray Optics had 3 questions (Prism question, question on focal length in air and water), 1 question from semiconductor where the value of current was asked in forward bias), Fluid Mechanics had 2 questions (question on excess pressure, ghost pressure, question on mole fraction and pressure relation), 1 question about Kinetic Energy value of a certain projectile. 1 question on entropy.
  • In Physics, there was a pv graph-based tricky question which asked the value of work done. There was 1 question from wave optics based on ω/k formula. There was 1 question from photoelectric effect. No questions from SHM. 1 doable question from error topic which asked to calculate maximum error. 1 question also came from gravitation which was tricky where moon's radius was lessened and students had to apply g = GM/r2 formula.
  • No questions from Work and Energy in Physics were asked. 1 question came from Rotation chapter to calculate moment of inertia and torque. There was also 1 question from Wave Optics chapter. 1 question from previous year came in Physics regarding Binding Energy remaining constant from 30 till 170 and reason was asked where the correct answer was Nuclear forces are short range. 1 simple question from EM Waves where the magnitude of magnetic field was asked.
  • Chemistry paper had 1 simple question from biomolecule chapter. Organic chemistry was lengthy and there were more moderate questions from organic. There were 3 questions from named reactions which were difficult. In Physical Chemistry, zeroth law graph of Kinetics was asked.
  • Organic chemistry had 6 to 7 questions. There were also higher number of questions from Physical Chemistry (1 question was related to pH of water where what happens if temperature is increased to 80 degree celsius then pH will increase or decrease). 1 question from GOC was asked. 1 question from p block (in carbon family, which element has the lowest melting point).
  • Also, in Chemistry, no questions from periodic table/ properties, radial and angular nodes were asked. Questions were also there from SMR topic.
  • Maths paper was very calculative, tough, and lengthy. 3D Vector has 2 questions (one question was on shortest distance). Students were able to cover Maths section mostly in 1 hour. 2 questions were asked from quadratic (both integer based). Conic section included 3 questions (parabola focii and centre of circle based questions). 1 question from differential equation, 1 question from limits, 1 question from probability, 1 question from Statistics where variance was asked.
  • In Maths section, there was 1 complex question from permutation and combination using GAP method. There was also 1 question from binomial theorem. Integration had 2-3 very questions as per students. 1 question from quadratic and differential equation was tough. And students have advised to pay higher attention to 3D Vector, Integration, and Conic Section. 3D Vector had 2 question from PYQ 2024.
  • Number of good attempt is 44-49 as per students.
  • 99 percentile will have 180-200 or marks as per students.
  • As per students, 12th syllabus topics of PCM were higher as compared to class 11th topics.
  • Physical chemistry was more from class 12th syllabus
